Absolutely, Rose And Joe by Ditmars station! or Parisi's by Broadway under the El.Enjoy!
Not sure, haven't bought the canolis. They look good though!
I bought elephant ear pastry from there and while I as eating it, I found out it's rotten. very bad experience especially I knew this bakery is famous with their pastries.
Best spumoni I've ever had.
Haven't been here in years (So far back, you use to pick the items fresh off the bakers sheets) Stopped by for some wonderful cookies - what a treat.
Super Happy with the service, pricing, and the variety of items that taste great! I preordered a specialty cake with the baker for my daughters 1st birthday and she was extremely patient and very nice. Oh and did i mention the great prices for amazing specialty cakes and spot on designs they really are setting my sesame street theme with the amazing cakes and cupcakes not to forget the smash cake for my baby girl.I reccomend to try the cannolis! Thanks you ladies at La Guli you all are awesome - Julisa S. See you guys in february or maybe sooner because the pastries are addicting.
Worst experience. I place an order for cupcakes for my wife's baby shower. We had seen some cupcakes and brought in the picture, we asked them if they could make them like that, they said yes and charged me extra for each. Today, I picked them up, cupcakes were not what we asked and paid for. They just stood there and packed them anyway. I had no choice but to take them as I didn't have time to get other ones. 0 stars, last time I buy anything there.
This is a classic-style pastry shop that will make your mouth and significant other water with ecstasy. They have an excellent variety of options and aim to please customers with care, kindness and consideration. I would recommend this spot to anyone looking for tasty treats to treat yo self.
My family and I have been coming here for years. Their cannolis are the best thing in this world. Even on holidays they are ready for the busiest times you dont notice how small of a space it is because youre in and out without a problem.
Traditional bakery with wide selection. Place feels like stepping into a childhood memory. Serve espresso and cappuccinos.
At one time this was the best bakery anywhere. prices are through the roof. Don't mind paying but the quality does not match up. For a small little Italian ice $4 a cup. Are they kidding me. Remember The days, when in the summer time the kids would line up to get ices. The baked goods fall short. It's worth the 14 block walk to go to Astoria Bakers. Much better only problem no Italian ices
AMAZING selection of authentic Italian pastries. To die for. Probably one of the best bakeries in north Astoria. Huge selection. They also make cakes
They seem to have a bias to, non white italians. pastries are overall average. nothing special.
One of my favorite bakeries in all of ny
Not friendly. They also prefix their Cannolis. Too bad
This bakery is an old school local place, exactly the type of place I like to support, but I recently had an experience there that kind of turned me off. I bought $8 worth of rainbow cookies and ordered a small coffee with no sugar. The tab came out to $10.03 and I had a $10 bill. My hands were full of grocery bags and I asked if she could let the $0.03 slide, otherwise I'd have to get out my credit card. (After all, I go in there all the time, I usually tip and I even bring people there.) "We take credit cards." with a blank look. So now I got to put down my groceries and get out my wallet and credit card, all for the extra $0.03. AND she got my coffee order wrong, it had sugar in it. If they are the type of people to nickel and dime me like that I'm going to take my business to Artopolis.
Place is excellent for all sugar addicted. Vanilla cannolis is amazing and made just right - crusty shelfs and sweet and tender cream. Eclairs are very good and of course - Nutella lobster tail. Must try.
Hi, I bought cookies and a tiramisu cake for my fiancé for he’s Birthday it was delicious. I have been going to la Guli’s for many years know . I will continue to go to la Guli I hope they stay around for many more years to come very happy with them. 😃👍🏻👍🏻😸
Stick to the basics and you will never be disappointed. La Guli is easily one of the best traditional italian pastry shops in Astoria, And their cannoli are as good as they come. The decor is very 1930's (probably the original fixtures). This place is not really a place to sit and eat. It is best enjoyed by ordering their awesome pastries and taking them home.
Great family owned and operated pastry shop. Brought several of their creations to parties over the holiday and was never disappointed.
They have the best cakes! Always a go to when you want to impress friends with awesome pastries.
Cakes and pastries are delicious but owner is such a difficult person to deal with. Even her employees hate her. Never purchasing again. I can't get a box for one slice "because the cake will be a mess" but Martha's Country Bakery a few blocks down does it no problem. I'll buy a $6 dollar slice with a box instead of a $4 in a bag. Thank you so much for pushing a loyal customer away :)
READ THE REVIEWS! I wish I did before going to this place. Highly disgusted by this place! Placed an order and asked if the specific design I wanted could be done. I was assured that it could. When I picked up my order, I was in disbelief that I was charged so much money for something That looked so horrible. I’m not the one to complain- in fact, I never complain, but I was horrified by the lack of professionalism, service, and product done for me. Honestly, I could’ve done a better job. When confronted the ‘manager’ he stated that I didn’t know what I was talking about. He preceded to raise his voice at me when I asked for it to be fixed, I of course yelled back. All of the sudden he came around the counter and proceeded to CHOKE ME!!! I wish I was making this up, because I was in such disbelief. I hope they read this review as they know exactly who he choked. I ended up having to contact the cops. Avoid this place!!!!!!!!! I’ll be posting pictures to show That this posting to true.
A wonderful, old school Italian pastry shop in the heart of Astoria. A Wonderful selection, and friendly staff.
I love this shop. It's pastries are out of this world good. Their marzipan is perfect. In the summer, their ices are just the answer to the heat.
La Guli's has been a family favorite since before I was born! I will never get an Italian pastry like here. Always the best!
I love this authentic Italian pastry shop. The cakes are delicious, the bread is fresh and baked on premises and the cookies are delightful. I highly recommend this place!
My father grew up in Astoria New York and has been going here his whole life. We go there everytime we go to New York together after we get pizza and hot dogs. Best bakery I've ever been to. Amazing desserts. I intend to keep La Guli a family tradition through my family and theirs. You have a generation of customers my friend.
Love the sweets and ice cream. I've been going here since I was a kid.
This bakery used to be my go to since my childhood. They USED to be the best bakery hands down. This establishment has gone to the owners head. I had ordered a cake for the holidays, when I presented it to my guests I was highly disappointed and embarrassed. The order was wrong, the chocolate was cracked, the cake was hard like cardboard and tasted even worse. It was not fresh at all. The next day I took the entire cake back to explain to the owner what happened. She was very rude with a terrible attitude and insisted that I was wrong and everything was fine. She lacks respect and customer service ethics. Each time I would try to speak I would get eye rolling, head shaking, speaking under her breath to a worker and was getting spoken to as if I was a child. I was not offered a refund, an apology or anything of that sort. It’s a shame that a bakery that used to be known for their quality pastries is no longer the same. I will never be stepping foot here again!
Almond croissant wasn't fresh at 9am, and made w/ bread dough, not flaky at all. The large size and cheap price should of been a giveaway. The latte was OK. Surprised that franchise chains make these lattes tastier. Very watery latte, no flavor.
Recently bought a cake Very disappointed Cake was nothing But whip cream Barley any strawberry The decoration and written was horrible
My father grew up on their pastries, and so did I, I'm almost 60. And their Italian ice.
Canolis are amazing, pies are terrific, ices in the summer are the truth! I've been going here since I'm a little girl, my mother when she was little, and her mother before that. Classic.
Great selection of pastries, fresh and delicious made cakes, ice cream and cookies, very attentive costumer service, old fashioned well kept bakery.
A classic pastry shop that almost hits the mark. Good pastry, decent selection and rough customer service from the longtime employees.
An old fashioned bakery in the Ditmars section of Astoria. This is more of a neighborhood place rather than one in which people travel far and wide to patronize. There is a wide assortment of pastries which are very good. There are several small tables to dine in. The owner can be a bit surly at times.
Had someone by the name of monica i believe give me a very nasty attitude and when i asked her about it she gave me a very rude "deal with it". Wouldnt recommend.
My wedding was Saturday night. We ordered cake and other pastries. They neglected to make the cake. The first people to the dessert table loaded up on the other pastries since there was no cake. Half our guests, including my husband and I, had no dessert. They let us down on the most important night of our lives. We will be going there this weekend to see how they respond. Will post an update. UPDATE: We went to the bakery and spoke to the owner, Maria. She admitted the mistake and offered to make us a replacement cake at no charge. Although this will not change the fact that we had no cake at our wedding, we respect her for owning the problem and trying to make it right. Because of this we will use the bakery again in the future, their baked goods are delicious.
As a local Italian myself I always like to give my business to locally run places, however I will no longer be coming to this place due to the poor service that I received my last visit. The woman behind the counter was extremely rude to me.
I know a lot about Italian pastries and although they have a great variety and potential to be one of the best pastry shops in the area, their pastries are NEVER ever, fresh. Very disappointing.
Good Service, atention for customers.
Tasty not sure healthy but definitely tasty;)
My wife and I have always bought our birthday party and holiday cakes here. Special-ordered cakes have always been very good. They always have a good supply of ready-made cakes of various sizes. Cookies, marzipan, gelato, and more...all good quality. They have a few tables to sit and relax as well, wonderful neighborhood fixture.
Grew up in Astoria, and as a kid, always thought they had the most delicious pastries. Since then, I have been all over the world, and still had trouble finding a place that was better. Everyone gets judged against La Guli. Still can't go into Astoria without grabbing a cannolli!
